The Cosmic Circle

Happy October! Fall is here, and Spooky Szn approaches (Halloween, but more importantly, Hulaween!). We had a fantastic last couple of weekends on our Fest Quest at Life is Beautiful, Cascade Equinox, CRSSD, and most recently Portola.

The new Fest Quest to the Festisia community have been an absolute joy. These once-strangers, and now family, are growing the Festie energy with more creativity and inspirational visions to evolve the prime reason why we’re here. The collaboration between us all is what’s going to make these shared experiences truly come to life. So come on this journey and check out what’s coming next!

We’ve had an overwhelming amount of wonderful convos with all of the Festies interested in Wave Two of Fest Quest. We’re closing in on our last few applicants and will share our final decision this week! Staaaay tuned! 🙂

This is accidentally an official Portola Festival newsletter. You see our vision and lens of the experience, but get to know it a bit better from more of a bird’s-eye view. Oh, and Ohana Fest happened this weekend in Dana Point, and we’ve only heard incredible intel of the music-filled beach weekend. Easy to say that California is leading the way with strong festival energy.

Maybe you’ve already seen some of the footage on our socials, but let’s dive a bit deeper. The second year of Portola Festival happened at Pier 80 in San Francisco this past weekend. Run by Goldenvoice, the festival was heavy in electronic music with sprinkles of R&B, soul, funk, pop and other expanding genres. Festie Rachel led the Fest Quest with five other ladies, making them the ultimate girl squad. They ventured off into the pier, meeting new friends and capturing the moments that matter most within Portola’s unique and majestic space.

Some favorite moments from the Fest Questies:

I loved handing out trinkets to strangers and dancing with all my new friends. It was also amazing to finally see Polo & Pan… The crowd was so positive!

Nelly singing “I’m Like a Bird”, outfits, and shoe spotting! Oh yes, the stickers to strangers was definitely a highlight! Thanks for getting those Festisia!

I mean, SF needed another festival. Outside Lands is incredible, absolutely incredible, but you know the city wants more. Portola delivered and exceeded. The music was absolutely phenomenal (my favorites included 2manydjs, Overmono, Little Simz, Polo & Pan, etc. etc. etc.), but to have predominately music without overbearing advertising and interactive experiences forces us to really tap in to the music and people around us. Vibes were so high, the people were phenomenal. And not to mention, Portola puts on great after parties.

Rachel

I loved the smiles when I stopped people to take pics of their cool outfits and shoes. I also got the best bear hug on Sunday by someone at Skrillex! It was such a fun way to wrap up the night.

Natalie

Polo & Pan, the amazing energy of all the festival goers, and the incredible outfits and style.

Ferg

Surprising people with trinkets! Crowd vibes in the Warehouse were awesome too.

And Ferg, Festie lover and photographer, took some of the most outstanding photos encompassing the joys and creativity that San Francisco held this weekend:

If you plan on doing any music sightseeing this week, let us know so we can share your experience with the community!

If you want to reminisce with us on our weekend at Portola, they created a playlist so that this year’s BPM will forever stay in our hearts. Check it out:
