Now that we have just experienced an especially unforgettable weekend, The “Summertime Sadness” is kicking in with Outside Lands over. OSL is a friendly reminder that we should have fulfilled our summer with festivals and music, which we did, but it is also a reminder that so much gratitude comes with the tail-end of fest season. The 15th year anniversary left us in awe with the shimmering Eucalyptus trees and serenades from bands, speakers, and fellow Festies alike. The relationships we’ve created this weekend, primarily in the heart center of the Electric Bubble Tea Test, are irreplaceable. Huge thank you to the YOUNG & SICK team, Grand Artique, Motel Club, Coco & Breezy, and a wonderful pre-fest show from Poolside that kept the team more inspired than ever. Until next year Golden Gate Park!

The Festie Fam unanimously voted that whimsical and stylized dance group, L’Impératrice, was one of the greatest sets of the weekend. The show was filled with heavy synth elements and sparkly runs, and an energized crowd that lit up the Sutro stage during sunset. The French pop and nu-disco band played songs of the summer and had everyone’s hands waving in the air. With recent releases featuring guest artists like Cuco and Poolside (who were also at OSL), the sextet continues to mesh familiar voices with new and refreshing details. We’ve never seen the crowd that mesmerized in a long time.
If you don’t believe it from us that Outside Lands is of utmost and special importance, take it from Spin. The SF-based festival screams local culture through the immaculate food they welcome from nearby vendors, or a craftsperson marketplace that is held in SF monthly. Each stage is dedicated to a SF-iconic location, and so many more features. The music is great, but what makes it especially magical is that you are proactively in the hub of local creativity and connectivity, making music look and sound better than anywhere else.
Other stories to check this week:
If not obvious, we’re still weeping over how incredibly the weekend went. Here are a few of our team’s favorite moments:
Our Electric Bubble Tea Test was a great success in welcoming new faces to get a taste of the magical world that YOUNG & SICK and Grand Artique have created for us. Walking along McLaren Pass, festival goers stopped in front of the Y&S-designed cutout to take a memorabilia polaroid. Y&S had two disco DJ sets on Friday and Saturday that lured in the masses with a fantastic catalogue and unique sound that festival goers didn’t realize they needed to hear. With the Festisia team handing out custom fans and bandanas, it was hard to leave the area! We had some great interviews on the site, one of our favorite being with our new friend Kyle from Grand Artique. We would also like to shoutout our brand ambassadors who killed it this weekend! Stay tuned for our recap video.
Motel Club performed on Friday with a DJ set at the Cocktail Magic stage. They attracted a most free-spirited crowd dancing in the most wacky of ways to the deep cuts of disco. No where else did we see people dancing as authentically as at Motel Club’s set. It was their first time ever landing on a festival lineup, and were absolute naturals.
Coco & Breezy finally made their debut after a slight mishap with the SOMA tent, leading some acts to be switched around. They got to experience the first ever SOMA tent outside on a beautiful sunshiny Sunday afternoon. The duo wowed us with dance tracks that became an addiction on the dance floor, and their cohesive outfits made it all the more sexy @ SOMA. We’re still raving about this set…

“This LED necklace was a highdea, you know, one of those you have while staring at the fridge too long. True Story.”
Say Less, you’re speaking our language. At HQ we’ve had plenty of these late night fridge ideas, the Blubber Duckie, Roller Gloves, Uber for Dogs, to name a few.
Although none of ours stuck (thanks America), our friends at Aether are crushing it. The Nanolanterns are perfect for late night porta potty trips, locating dropped gear at a set and the LED Chrystal adds to the vibe of the dance floor. We agree, head lamps are for old timey miners and my iPhone is always dead. They’re becoming a new essential to camping festival pack and for every early morning jam.
They’ve hooked up the Festies with 10% off with the code “FESTISIA”.
Make sure to order before the 18th to get in time as they’re heading to Burning Man! Speaking of, who’s going?

If you haven’t yet made your way over to our Spotify, we’re here to make sure you don’t miss out. Every Friday we update our FRESHTISIA playlist with new releases and jams. Although it isn’t quite Friday, make sure to follow so that you’re only a click away from new weekly tunes!
